- Bridge: The small program at home that links WA Classic to WhatsApp. See The bridge.
- Carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT): When your internet provider shares one public IP between many customers. Then nothing from outside can reach your home, so WA Classic only works at home.

- Cydia source: An address Cydia loads packages from.
- Docker: A free program that runs the bridge in its own box, so nothing else on your computer changes.
- Docker volume: Where Docker keeps the bridge's data. For WA Classic it's called
wa-classic-data. - DynDNS: A name like
myhome.dyndns.orgthat always points to your home, even when your provider changes your IP address. - Jailbreak: Removing Apple's limits on an iPhone, so it can install apps like WA Classic.

- Port forwarding: A setting in your router that lets one port reach a computer at home from the internet.
- Setup code: The six-digit code from the setup page you enter on a new iPhone. Valid for 30 minutes.
- Setup page: The bridge's web page, at localhost:8097 on its computer.
- Tethered jailbreak: A jailbreak that needs a computer after every restart.
- The classic look: The original pictures and sounds of WhatsApp 2.10, downloaded once by the bridge.
