Installing the bridge (Windows)

WARNING

Docker Desktop needs Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.

Installing Docker

1. Download Docker Desktop for Windows.
2. Run the installer and keep Use WSL 2 switched on.
3. Restart the PC when the installer asks for it.
4. Start Docker Desktop and accept the terms. You can skip signing in.
5. If Docker asks to install or update WSL, allow it and start Docker again.

Starting the bridge

Open PowerShell (Start menu, type "PowerShell"), paste this line and press Enter:

docker run -d --name wa-classic --restart unless-stopped -p 8097:8097 -p 25567:25567 -v wa-classic-data:/data ghcr.io/aronsz26/wa-classic-bridge:latest

It downloads the bridge (a few hundred MB), starts it, and starts it again after every reboot.

DANGER

When Windows asks whether Docker may use the network, allow it for private networks. Otherwise the iPhone can't reach the bridge.

Keeping it running

1. Docker Desktop › Settings › General: turn on Start Docker Desktop when you sign in.
2. Settings › System › Power: set Sleep to Never when plugged in.
