Installing the bridge (macOS)

WARNING

Docker Desktop needs macOS 12 or newer.

Installing Docker

1. Download Docker Desktop for Mac. Pick Apple Silicon (M1 and newer) or Intel. Not sure? Apple menu › About This Mac.
2. Open the downloaded file and drag Docker into Applications.
3. Start Docker from Applications and accept the terms. You can skip signing in.
4. Wait until the whale icon in the menu bar stops moving.

Starting the bridge

Open Terminal (Applications › Utilities), paste this line and press Return:

docker run -d --name wa-classic --restart unless-stopped -p 8097:8097 -p 25567:25567 -v wa-classic-data:/data ghcr.io/aronsz26/wa-classic-bridge:latest

It downloads the bridge (a few hundred MB), starts it, and starts it again after every reboot.

Keeping it running

1. Docker Desktop › Settings › General: turn on Start Docker Desktop when you sign in.
2. System Settings › Energy (or Battery › Options): turn on Prevent automatic sleeping when the display is off.

WARNING

A MacBook has to stay plugged in and open, or use an external display. While the Mac sleeps, no messages reach the iPhone. They arrive as soon as it wakes up.
